Catalyst: Accelerate co-creation across the entire ecosystem. You need other organizations to be able to innovate. They have something that you need to fulfill your purpose. You can work across the industry to set new standards or innovate together.

The three roles are interconnected. You should let go of formal authority as a source of influence and power. Build connections outside of your organization with mutual trust, influence, and commitement. You cannot people to innovate. You only can invite them. It’s a volutary act.

As an expert for giving developmental feedback you create a growth environment. As a leader you should see the raw material for briliance in every team member. It’s your assignment to know which team members has which individual capability and skills. This will help you to place all members in the best position for them.

CEOs have accepted that sustainability and growth are important parts of the strategy of a business. Often times these two ideas stay in conflict to each other. As a business owner or CEO it’s your part to bring them together. Nearly all companies traded on the stock exchange are required to develop an environmental, social and governmental (ESG) strategy. They should phase out over time. Most organizations can do more to use data to assess the business impact of investments. Examples can be on stakeholder attitudes and future economic impact, as well as linkages.

Organizations can use data to estimate the business consequences of investment. Low-value investments addressed for reputational risk are suggest to phase out over time.

  6. Focus on creativity when it hits: When creativity hits you, stop with other things and fully focus on it. You should write down the thoughts and ideas when they come. You can influence a more successful outcome of a presentation. Sending the right kinds of non-verbal communications will help you to do better. There are some things you should have to send the right signals. These things are

Many of us don't like to talk a big crowd. In your work life there may be a time where you need to do it either. You can prepare yourself for that.

18. 6 Levels of a Good Listener

Depending on the conversation there are different levels of listening. As a good listener you would be a benefit for many conversations. But not every conversation requires the highest level of listening.

Consider which level of listening you would like to aim for. Each of the levels build on the others.

Level 1: You create a safe environment. In this environment you can discuss difficult, complex or emotional issues.

Level 2: You clear away distractions like phones, laptops or the TV. Focus on the other person and make eye-contact while listening. Those help to influence your own attitudes and inner feeling.

Level 3: You try to understand the substance of what the other person is saying. You capture the idea and ask questions. Then you restate issues to confirm that you understand them correct.

Level 4: You observe nonverbal cues, such as

  • facial expressions,

  • perspiration,

  • respiration rate

  • gestures,

  • postures,

  • and other sutle body language signals.

You listen with your ears and eyes. According to studies around 80% of what we communicate comes from the signals above.

Level 5: You understand the other person's emotions and feelings about the topic at hand. You can identifie and acknowledge them. You empathize with and validates those feelings in a supportive, nonjudgmental way.

Level 6: You ask questions that clarify assumptions the other person holds. Beside that you help the other person to see the issue in a new light. This could include you injecting some thoughts and ideas about the topic. This could be useful to the other person. But you never highjack the conversation. They or their issues should not become the subject of the discussion.


19. Foster a Culture of Innovation

Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging team members to generate and share ideas. New ideas and innovations help you stay ahead of the market and your competitors. Your team members should have the freedom and possibility to share their ideas.

You can implement a ideas section for your weekly meetings. There should be a whiteboard where you collect all ideas for everybody to see. All team members can bring up ideas. Everyone listens and noone judges the ideas.

In the team meeting all can rate the different ideas. The team members with the best ranked ideas create a plan how to integrate the ideas in the business.

After the implementation all team members can evaluate the ideas. Some ideas are more useful and effective than others. There will be ideas that aren't useful at all. All should give clear feedback to the ideas.

Today I want to talk about the importance of practicing empathy, not only in our personal lives but also in our professional lives. Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of others.

It’s a skill that can help you

  • improve your communication, and

  • become a better leader.

In the workplace, empathy can help us create a more positive and inclusive environment. With that everyone feels heard and valued. When you practice empathy:

Take the time to understand your team members' perspectives, experiences, and challenges. This can help you in ways like:

  • make better decisions,

  • collaborate more effectively, and

  • ultimately achieve better results.

But empathy is not only about being nice or sympathetic. It’s about taking action. It's about:

  • putting yourself in other people's shoes,

  • acknowledging their emotions, and

  • responding with kindness and understanding.

Empathy can help us navigate in different situations with grace and compassion:

  • whether it's a team members who's struggling with a project,

  • a customer who's frustrated with our product, or

As professionals, we often focus on improving our technical skills, knowledge, and experience. However, we may overlook the importance of developing a strong sense of self-awareness.
